A Brief History

Mr Mohammed Ali Khan, founder of the AMBALA FOODS Company, named the firm after the town in India where he was born.

Since it was established in 1965, Ambala has become one of the most prestigious confectionery and savoury brands in the world. The unique recipes of the founder, and the uncompromising use of only premium quality ingredients remain the secret of Ambala's unrivalled quality and taste. Ambala's passion for innovation combined with its deep sense of tradition, ensures every mouthful is a truly pleasurable and memorable experience.

From the original single shop in Drummond Street London NW1 the company has grown but remains dedicated to their original motto, "To always provide their patrons with the very best."

We hope you enjoy tasting the excellence of our products as much as we enjoy creating this excellence for you.

Ambala Milestones

1968 We expand into our second manufacturing site, in Commercial Road, London E.1.

1976 Steady growth means larger premises in Narrow Street, London E.1.5.

1986 A decade of ever-increasing demand governs a move to a larger site in Hackney Marshes, London E.9.

1995 The pattern of expansion continues with a move to our largest site yet in Stratford, London E.15.

2002 For the development of innovative ideas and new items, an additional factory in St Albans is acquired. Research and Development, automisation and export are also carried out at these premises.

2004 Our objective to deliver the choicest, the tastiest and the widest possible range of our food products, with quality and freshness second to none, to our customers at home and abroad takes a significant step forward with the launch of our website.

2009 Ambala's constant drive to develop and progress culminates in the opening of a state-of-the art purpose-built facility in the heart of Welwyn Garden City, AL7 1LT, Hertfordshire.
